Job Summary:

Due to expansion we are seeking an appropriately qualified HSET Advisor with underground experience to join our team.

This position will be site based.   The roster will be a 2:2 roster cycle on a fixed task employment contract.

This role will work closely with the site management team and provide specialist advice to all site personnel ensuring compliance to the HSET Management System.

You will have the opportunity to participate in the design and implementation of a number of strategic HSET initiatives to facilitate the cultural positioning of the Pit N Portal Group through a period of rapid growth.

Your Accountabilities & Tasks:

The role will include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Develop and review the "whole of site" risk assessment annually and as required
  • Implement and ensure compliance to the site Safety and Environmental Management plan
  • Develop and communicate the site Emergency Management Plan
  • Conduct inductions in line with company's policies and safety systems
  • Ensure all personnel are trained and assessed as competent in the tasks that they are required to perform utilising the standard as set out in the training manuals and procedures
  • Ensure employee statutory accreditation for site is current (first aid, paramedic)
  • Ensure a current set of employee training files is maintained in line with Pit n Portal standards
  • Coordinate weekly safety meetings, ensure information is recorded as per the meeting template and keep the Safety notice board current
  • Promote and monitor the site Hazard Identification System and provide advice for corrective actions or outstanding issues
  • Promote and mentor the use of Safety Representatives in all safety matters pertaining to site
  • Ensure End of Month reporting is completed on time, accurately and distributed to the appropriate personnel
  • Injury Management, including the development of RTW plans with line management
  • Supporting the HSE&T team, taking on additional project work when required
  • Lead the investigation of any incidents that occur on site using the ICAM process
  • Participate in the development of HSET planning, policies and procedures
Skills, License, Qualifications & Experience Required:

The successful applicant will have substantial experience in an underground mining role providing HSET advice and support.

Ideally with a Diploma in OHS (with a minimum of a  Certificate IV in OHS) and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

You will be trained and experienced in conducting incident investigations using the ICAM process.

Ideally you will have had experience operating underground mining equipment.

You must have thorough knowledge and understanding of the WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act (1994) and Regulations.

Proficiency with the MS Office suite is required.

You will be able to demonstrate exceptional time management and organisational skills and be an excellent communicator with the ability to persuade and guide others in a constructive manner.
