About Us

PNPs exceptional track record over the past two decades has opened up pathways to sustainable and highly profitable growth.

Carving out a niche as a preferred mid level underground solutions provider, Pit N Portal is now in its next phase of growth into the Surface / Open Pit sector.

Pit N Portal's History

Two Decades Of Outstanding Service And Growth

Prior to PNPs beginning, Ian Barnard & Steve Versteegen worked together for a National mining equipment hire company. At the time, many surface equipment/dry hire options existed, however, reliable, maintained underground (UG) solutions were less abundant.

Seeing the gap in the market, Ian & Steve harnessed their customer orientated, entrepreneurial spirit and carved out a niche in the UG sector.

Ian Barnard, PNP co-founder

"From the outset, we wanted to maintain a high level of quality control in respect to the field support we delivered to our clients.

Rather than relying on third parties to manage breakdowns, we installed our infrastructure, components, parts inventory, maintenance staff and workshops. Such an approach quickly set us apart from our competitors, and our maintenance focus self-sufficiency has remained to this day."

"As our business evolved, it became clear that the needs of our mining partners were ever-changing.

Rather than apply a 'one size fits all' approach, we've continued to focus on diversifying our offerings and maintaining quality, via vertical integration. PNP upholds a 'solutions-based, best for project' mindset; working with our partners to reach their goals."
